In this modern age, detoxing is important for many reasons. Our chemical environment is a problem due to the presence of pollutants in the air and water supply. Additionally, most of the food we eat is grown with pesticides to control insect and bacterial infestation and increase yield. To see how many preservatives and dyes are in our food, one only has to look at the labels.

Although I don’t recommend that you never eat this way, you might feel full and be deficient in nutrients if you eat an American diet high in sugar, salt, preservatives, and canned foods.

To remove toxicity, there are many things you can do. Although liver and kidney cleansings are excellent, there are other options. You can take a bath for half an hour or sauna your way to getting rid of toxins. Make sure to eat well and drink 8 glasses of water to ensure your blood sugar doesn’t drop. This not only can you lose toxins but also water, salt, and potassium which can lead to lightheadedness.

You can make great herbal teas and drink them on a daily basis. They are gentle cleanser, hydrator, have antioxidant properties, and flush out toxins. This tea is warm and refreshing and can be used to help relax the body.

Because you preserve the nutritional integrity of fruits and vegetables, juicing is a great way to get more nutrients into your body. You will lose nutrients if you boil vegetables. This is known as bleaching, and all the nutrients go into the water. You can overcook food and then dump the water out. This means that your nutrients are gone and you will ingest the bleached husk. You should eat raw or juiced.

Supplements that boost your immune system are recommended, such as Vitamins A, D and E, Vitamins C, Vitamins A, B, and Vitamins D. To keep our bodies in good shape, trace minerals and electrolytes must be taken. Do not drink sports drinks high in sugar, but rather get quality electrolytes from your local health food store. A good multivitamin should be taken every day, if not.

Ginger, garlic, alfalfa, and chlorella are all great herbs for detoxifying and strengthening the immune system. Garlic is an excellent herb for detox, as it lowers blood pressure, promotes circulation, and aids in nearly all major organs, such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, and skin. It is one nature’s most perfect food. Chlorella, an edible green alga, has all you need, including protein, vitamins C and all the B vitamins (especially B12, betacarotene, and trace minerals). It’s a great blood cleanser as well as whole food. This is the best! All of these herbs will be available at most health food stores.

Although it’s almost impossible to eliminate all pollutants from the environment, there are things you can do that will benefit your health.
